Description
Cruise at 150 - 160 knots burning around 6 gallons per hour!
Get to the head of the line and avoid the production backlog and potential 2020 price increases. This rare December delivery slot is ready for your options and colors.
The European Ultralight Shark is now also in the U.S. in the Experimental Exhibition category! Unless you spend years building it yourself there is nothing out there that can do what the Shark can do - Fast and efficient cruise, short grass strip takeoffs and landings, and with +4 G -2 G fighter like maneuverability it will turn on a dime.
Details:
A high-performance European UL with retractable gear, highly refined wing airfoil and variable-pitch or fixed pitch propeller. Shark UL is designed and tested for a maximum take-off weight of 1,320 lbs and with its light weight it can easily carry two 200 lb plus passengers, travel bags and fuel for over four hours of endurance. Despite the Shark's slim aerodynamic shape and light weight the F-16 fighter style cockpit is an ergonomic miracle providing a comfortable seat with ample shoulder room and arm rests that present the contoured side throttle and stick perfectly to the pilots hands.
Designed according to European UL and US Light Sport Aircraft criteria, European rules allowing for retractable gear and no LSA speed limit. Composite low-wing design with classic tail and tandem seating. The Shark now comes standard with rocket deployed recovery parachute for safety.
Structure
Glass-fiber and carbonfiber/epoxy airframe, with PVC foam and aramid honeycomb core in sandwich panels. Carbon fiber construction with honeycomb crush zones provide a Formula 1 inspired safety cage that has proven to provide exceptional crashworthiness and durability. Monocoque fuselage with integral fin has integrated arm rests, seat backs, floors and instrument panels. Composite wing with carbon-fibre main spar and an auxiliary spar carrying flap levers and aileron hinges has 60 % of the trailing edge occupied by powerful single-slotted flaps which deliver very slow stall speeds.. Wings and horizontal tail can be quickly detached for transportation or storage.
Flight controls
Mechanically actuated control surfaces provide nimble fighter aircraft style stick feel and are aided by an electric trim tab on the elevator and electrically actuated flaps.
Retractable Landing Gear
The Shark has tricycle type retractable undercarriage with steerable 13x4" nose wheel and 14x4” main wheels with hydraulic disc brakes.
Powerplant
The efficient and proven 100HP Rotax 912ULS engine with variable-pitch composite propeller burns between 3 and 6 gallons per hour of low cost MOGAS, and allows cruise speeds anywhere from 100 knots to nearly 160 knots depending on whether you want to go "low and slow" or "high and fast". Integral wing fuel tanks come standard at 100 liters providing more than 4 hours of endurance (150 liters is optional).
Cockpit
The carbon fiber and upholstered tandem cockpit with side control stick and throttle is evokes the feel of an F-16 fighter. The seats have a wide adjustment throw for large occupants. Dual controls allow flight from the backseat as well. The flight controls are designed to be nimble and yet the aircraft is forgiving and docile with predictable low speed stalls and landing manners that will make you look like pro greasing it in on the trailing link landing gear.
Avionics:
Most models ship with the optional Dynon Skyview glass cockpit system in the front cockpit with a smaller display in the rear cockpit (mounted on the canopy cross frame), the base aircraft is also available with classic gauges.
A generous baggage area for overnight bags is aft of seats, perfect for a work trip or weekend away - perfect for a briefcase, purse and small travel bags. Golf bags and skis may be shipped separately with an optional FedEx box that may be furnished with the aircraft sale :)
