Description
I purchased this plane in 2012 after, according to the logbooks that date back to when it was new, lived its entire life in southern California. This Comanche is extremely clean. It was purchased for education and business travel, and the mission was to learn about the Comanche and make the plane as safe and well cared for as possible while our company researched general aviation simulations. Since it was a mid time engine, over the initial 18 months, we teamed up with an excellent local mechanic and we went through the entire airplane from top to bottom, checking and replacing all wear and tear items. The goal was to have an airplane that was as reliable, quiet, and smooth to provide the most comfortable experience for long flights.
How I operate the airplane:
Easy starts with throttle cracked or closed
Always give ample time for the engine to warm before applying full power
One notch of flaps and weight off the nose wheel during the takeoff run
Shallower climbs keeping temps low
Final cruise between 55-60%. This plane can be leaned to achieve 170mph on roughly 10gph
No shock cooling on descents
Gear extensions < 120mph ias
The lightest landings with no side loading
Use airframe braking after landing and minimum wheel brakes
While the Comanche can handle unfinished runways, I never landed this plane on one.
Engine RPM > 800 and leaned during taxi (though, this engine will not foul with the fine wire plugs)
Hangared when traveling. If not available, then covered and protected from hot sun.
Engine heater used if parked in cold places, which was only done two times since owning the airplane
About the Comanche 250:
The Comanche 250 is one of the finest high performance complex singles ever made. It has a lower compression Lycoming 540, which is extremely reliable. This Comanche with the tip tanks has a useful load is almost 1,300lbs, a range of over 1000 miles, a 46” wide cabin, the landing gear is both simple and rugged, and has an all-moving stabilator. The wing is a laminar flow (jets use this shape) and has a continuous main spar that passed underneath the rear seat, with two supporting forward and rear spars. Piper over built the wing and as a result it can handle far more g-forces than most GA airplanes which is important if you unexpectedly run into strong turbulence. Beyond the wing, the airplane is built with American 1950’s high quality and pride, and it shows. The moment you sit in the cockpit and start moving the controls, the quality is obvious. This plane only has a hand full of simple re-occurring AD’s to check at annual as well.
This airplane is owned and operated by A2A Simulations Inc, an industry leading flight simulation company and has been sponsored by many companies including Conoco Phillips, Champion Aerospace and Knots-2-u and has always received the finest care. “29P” is known by thousands of people around the world and it gets a lot of attention at air shows. Below is a promotional video of our A2A Simulations Comanche 250 simulation which includes many shots of this beauty.

Lycoming 250
SMOH: 1487
STOH: 1246
The engine is strong and smooth with minimal oil burning. All compression readings in the 70's. Engine oil changed every 25 hours with Phillips 20w50 and Camguard (both Phillips and Camguard have sponsored this aircraft for the past 4 years)
Props
Prop Notes
New MT 3-blade scimitar propeller, which is a marvel of engineering from MT. This is the smoothest running prop and engine combo you have ever experienced. MT is also a sponsor of this aircraft.

Exterior
Exterior Notes
The paint is in solid shape with no peeling, bubbling, or fading. The fact that it is such good shape after 30 years is undeniable proof this plane has been kept out of the elements for decades.
Interior
Interior Notes
Interior is also in good shape but there are some tears on the pilot's seat. Again, an original interior kept in such good shape from 1959 just shows how well the airplane has been treated.
