U. S. Government took delivery June, 1943 as a Grumman Model J4F2 built to U. S.Coast Guard specifications. Aircraft never assembled and later declared surplus.
Aircraft sold to a private individual as N9207H with the original Ranger 200HP engines and fixed pitch wooden propellers.
Aircraft later converted to Continental I0-470 260HP engines with 2-bladed constant speed propellers and registered as CF-JFV by Jack Hope, Dean Franklin Conversions.
Aircraft converted to Continental I0-520-E 300HP engines with Hartzell 3-bladed propellers as N44PB by Bill Grenier, Victoria, B. C.
Aircraft restored to present condition by Sunquest Air Specialities in 1998. Aircraft has won numerous awards including Sun & Fun, Oskcosh, Arlington & Evergreen.
PRODUCTION HISTORY: Grumman built a total of 276 aircraft. An estimated 100 remain with about 75 in flying condition. Approximately 40 exist in the United States.
