    Description
This carbon fiber Lancair Twin Turbo Super Legacy was the fastest Super Sport Class Qualifier at 355 MPH in category, class, and type on the unlimited 8.3 mile Reno Air Race course in 2007. The qualifying time was faster than half of the P51 Mustangs in 2007, however the plane has never been raced. A Super Legacy nearly identical to N726DW just recently set three world records for speed, at over 400 mph, and time to climb to 5,000 feet in less than a minute. The owner said he did not use full power to set these world records for planes weighing less than 2,200 pounds. No expense has been spared during construction of the Lancair Twin Turbo Super Legacy built to sustain aerobatic G-loads needed to handle race speeds and the high winds and turbulence encountered at the Reno Air Races. The twin Turbo Super Legacy at 65-70 inches of boost is capable of exceeding 400 mph with its new racing engine built by Pacific Continental Engines (PCE) in Los Angeles, California in 2011.

    Airframe

    Airframe Notes
Built by Andy Chiavetta owner of AeroChia for both racing and long distance flight at low cost. If you want to race or enjoy high cross country cruising speeds of 275 knots plus, this two place sport plane is for you! The Lancair Super Legacy is an extremely strong and well-built carbon fiber airplane built by Andy Chiavetta, owner of Aerochia, and who is most likely the best aircraft builder in the business. The Super Legacy tail section is statically and dynamically balanced, and flies very smoothly. The plane has a three axis trim system. Chiavetta built Super Legacy #33 and this airplane was raced by Darryl Greenamyer, a former Lockheed SR-71 test pilot, winning five times at Reno in his #33 Super Legacy in the sport class. Additional racing items and flight gear can be purchased with the plane. For example, the 20 gallon Alcohol/Water ADI tank has stainless steel lines and hoses, etc. Ask for the complete list of extra items for sale. N726DW is constructed of US Carbon Fiber. It has a third layer of carbon fiber extending from the Center of Gravity and includes a triple layer US carbon fiber tail wrap for additional rigidity. 726 DW is very comfortable with Oregon Aero NASA Leather Seats.
