Description
5. HELICOPTER MAINTENANCE AND OVERHAUL
Technical maintenance of Mi-8AMT helicopter is carried out according to airframe flight hours and, subject to timely and high quality execution of the assigned procedures, it ensures the requisite level of helicopter serviceability and availability for flights.
Maintenance Schedule (MS) is the main operational document defining the objects of servicing (systems, sub-systems and items), the listing and periodicity of procedures performed.
Maintenance schedule stipulates the following types of maintenance to be performed on the helicopter:
- line;
- periodical;
- special;
- during helicopter storage;
- seasonal.
Line maintenance includes auxiliary activities (to cater for parking, arrival and take-off), inspection and servicing.
Periodical maintenance is scheduled as per the airframe’s flight hours from the beginning of operation or after the last repair/overhaul and consists of procedures performed every (50±10) helicopter flight hours. The necessity of these procedures is defined by the flight hours logged by a helicopter: every 100, 300, 500, 1000 flight hours accordingly.
Maintenance of engines, aggregates and instruments is assigned as per the airframe’s flight hours.
Special maintenance is performed:
- after a hard landing of the helicopter, turbulent flight (exceeding the allowed operational g-loads), lightning stroke, hail, stormy conditions on ground, after a flight in the icing zone or in resonance conditions;
- after the replacement of engines, main gearbox, hubs of main and tail rotors.
Maintenance during storage is performed during temporary breaks in flights and consists of procedures:
- to prepare the helicopter for storage;
- to service the helicopter every (30±5) days, 3 months ±10 days, (6±1) months;
- to prepare the helicopter for flights after storage.
Seasonal maintenance is performed while preparing the helicopter for autumn-winter and spring-summer periods of operation.
