You and a normal sized friend plus 25 lb baggage can fly 800 miles in four hours for $110 in fuel { at $3.19 per gal, 8.5 gal per hr, 45 tfuel, 36.5 gal usable with one hr reserve } All at the price of a used suburban 1991 Homebuilt Lancair 235 with larger engine Lycoming model O320 E2D [150 hp]160kt cruise, 8.5 gal per hr [100LL or 80 octane ], retract ,fixed pitch wooden prop, new tires, conditional inspection{7-07}, has new dir gyro, new horizontal gyro, clock, strobs, battery; receintly rebuilt gasolator, carborator, oil cooler...45 gal three tanks, fuel transfer pump, boost pump, two radios, intercom, VOR , glideslope, marker beacons, mode C transponder....interior military...finished but not plush. No weight and balance ifo but have flown with full fuel and two 235 pound persons. It likes to have weight in the baggage compartment due to a forward CG created by the larger engine, which precludes placing a variable pitch prop on the plane Concerns...buyer needs to be aware that there are no logs on the engine before hour 1683 [currently 1731], Dr. Allen says he bought the engine at 1440 flew it and had it completely yellow tages and jugs chromed so it is a low time engine with some 230 hours on a 2000 TBO engine , oil temp displays high {engine temp seems normal} cylinder head temp normal, gear up light intermittent, no peddles on the right side so hard to get instruction in the plane itself. If you are taller than 6 foot or have legs longer than 34 this plane is too small for you Larger Engine, 160kt Cruise, 8.5 gal per hr. per hr certified for auto gas, Retract , Fixed Pitch Wooden Prop.

Constructed by Dr. Allen and an engineer{ Jay Bremmer} who did the layup for the airframe, Dr Allen mounted the engine and constructed the instrument panel, flown by Dr Allen for 244 hours.....last 46 hours by Dr Allen's son , Dr Allen is now 84

O320 lycoming carborated , had 1440 hours when instaled into the airframe.........60 hrs later remanufactured{ yellow tagged and cylendars chromed}.......now has 1730 on the engine ..last inspection june 07 compression good, no metal on plug ...... #1 64/80 #2 70/80 #3 68/80 #4 70/80

Wooden two blade.....new 80 hours ago [ I believe it is a "Aymar Demut" 320 serial # 05714, with a 62/76 pitch] Dr Allen landed long got the prop nothing else......at about 1683 hrs, only seven inches of ground clearance for the prop........mechanic said the engine was fine [one advantage of a wooden prop]

Oversized engine...no other mods, doughnut landing gear,orriginal wing , has an up and forward canopy

Two coms ,one nav, one vor, marker beacons, transponder mode C, glideslope, intercom

One headset , intercom, push to talk on stick, stick is between the legs short and very little movement to effect an attitude change , another way to look at it is the plane has plenty of aileron size, battery charger, fuel pump, boost pump, hydrolic pressure release to emergency extend gear, sight glass tube to determine fuel content of header tank, no cross over feed of fuel tanks, duel magnitos,

Grey w/ red nose..see photo still looks very good but not perfect , the left wing was repainted after the mechanic repaired the fuel cell and is slightly greyer than the plane itself, there was a bubble added to the cowling to accomodate the new exaust stack

Seats are molded into the airplane and have blue cussions , interior same grey with some unpainted portions, not plush but more military
