Description
1910 Bleriot XI - Built by the Swedish airplane and engine manufacture AETA (AB Enoch Thulin Aeroplanfabrik) in 1918, in a batch of eight aircraft ordered by the Danish company Nielsen & Winter to be used at their flying school in Copenhagen.
As WW1 ended before the aircraft could be delivered they were instead used at AETA´s flying school at Ljungbyhed, Sweden, until the company went into bankruptcy after the death of Enoch Thulin in 1919.
During the winter 1919/1920 all remaining airplanes from AETA were sold at an auction at Ljungbyhed and this Blériot XI ended up in 1926 being owned by the Swedish artist Anna Sahlström. Anna had the idea that her driver and handy man Johan should fly here to meet artist colleagues in Paris, which of course was not possible in a single seater. The Blériot was never flown again and ended up in a farm nearby for storage during the next 60 years.
In 1988, after some research, Mikael Carlson found the Blériot but it was not until 2003 that he started the restoration after he had located the original engine which disappeared in the 1950´s.
The first flight after the restoration was done in October 2004 and since then the aircraft has flown 20 hours in various places around the world.
