Description
The Yak 9 was the most mass produced Soviet fighter of all time. 16,769 were built. According to available information, those who flew the Yak 9 regarded its performance as comparable to the Messerschmitt BF109G, Focke-Wulf FW190A, P-51D and Spitfire IX. It appeared on the battle front from the end of 1942. This magnificent aircraft is a 'new build Yak’ and was purchased to order buy its current Owner during 2004. VH-YIX was built in Orenburg, Russia using the original jigs from World War 2 and fitted with dual-controls and Allison V-1710-99 engine in lieu of its original Klimov.
