Ok! Have you read all the specs? Here’s the story! This F1 Rocket has it all! We just completed a 14 month complete refurbishment of the airplane from Spinner to Tailwheel! Absolutely no system of the aircraft was left untouched. All work completed by professional IA/A&P master craftsmen all of whom have been associated with numerous Oshkosh Grand Champions and the airshow industry in general. No expense was spared to make this one of the finest F1 Rockets available. Starting with the highly unique four blade MT propeller, we shipped it and the prop governor to MT Propeller USA for major overhaul and a custom paint scheme. By the way, that awesome prop spinner adds a Reno Air Races touch to the overall appearance! Moving to the engine compartment, the Lycoming IO-540 was sent to Central Cylinder Service for a very comprehensive IRAN and massage, and we’re looking at 285 HP on the dyno now! If you’re not familiar with the Central Cylinder Service name, look them up online. They’re responsible for a lot of those really hopped up Rolls Royce Merlin engines on those hotrod racers you see at Reno! They’re also wizards with Lycomings, and Continentals! This engine looks so good, we wish we could fabricate a transparent engine cowl! We’ve got the B&C lightweight alternator and starter system installed. We put on brand new Slick Magnetos, a new ignition harness and new spark plugs while we were at it. The superb Airflow Performance fuel injection system including their high pressure electric fuel pump was sent to Airflow Performance for a comprehensive IRAN and installation of all updates and Service Bulletins. We started from scratch and built a completely new cooling plenum for the engine utilizing a combination of Vans RV cooling baffles and in house fabricated sheet metal. We’ve pretty much eliminated unwanted air leakage from the plenum with virtually all air being channeled for cylinder cooling. A heavy duty oil cooler was installed with a custom fabricated ducting chamber, once again with the intent of putting all the air available to work cooling, not leaking! All the oil, fuel, and other hoses were replaced with new integrated fire sleeve Aeroquip Teflon units supplied and fabricated by Mitch at Deering Industries, Long Beach, CA. (Best aircraft hose maker in the business) Of course, we added new Lord engine vibration dampers. There’s a new EGT/CHT probe on each cylinder and new wiring for each one. The engine mount/gear leg housings look brand new. The firewall looks terrific and is wrinkle free. Working aft, the gear legs and fairings are in great condition, the wheels and brakes and tires were IRAN’d and look and perform as new. Entering the cockpit with all its high tech equipment as listed above, you’ll find a completely new wiring harness fabricated with genuine aircraft grade wires and cables professionally installed. And guess what? Everything works to spec! All starter cables, battery cables, contactor cables etc. were replaced with new MIL-W-22759 aircraft grade wiring! The Dynon Skyview with all its full color Sectional/IFR charts and other data is a site to behold! Same with the Dynon EFIS-D6! The super nice leather and fabric seat cushions and Hooker 4 point safety harnesses convey to your senses that this isn’t your grandpas Cessna 172! This bad boy is gonna rumble! And the tinted polycarbonate canopy and optional slanted front windscreen makes you think you’re flying a jet fighter! We checked out and inspected carefully all the spar assembly hardware including all bolts, washers and nuts, piece by piece to insure 100% correct assembly. The aileron, and elevator torque tubes were removed and inspected thoroughly and re-assembled with careful attention to rigging, lubrication, and correct assembly hardware so there’s absolutely no slop or play in the system. The flight controls of this airplane are buttery smooth and precisely harmonized! We also went to painstaking lengths to assure the balance of the flight control surfaces due to this airplanes performance envelope. As to the overall outside appearance of N988WT, it’s a real head turner! It’s been painted overall with a basecoat/clear coat system and looks like it’s been dipped in clear plastic. This airplane will bring ‘em out on the ramp wherever you land! Enough said! This is a for real, super performer you can just go fly! No fixing required!
