    Description
The AN-2 Was originally designed in Russia in 1947. The majority of the 20,000 such aircraft produced were Polish, built between the mid 40's and mid 80's. Most were delivered to the former Soviet Union and were operated by Aeroflot. Almost every collective farm in the Ukraine and Siberia had 2 or 3 of these planes that were used to haul cargo, everything from chickens , to pigs and goats , people, aerial spraying and seeding, you name it and the AN-2 can haul it. 5000 lbs of usefull load off of an 800ft unimproved strip. There were few roads in central Russia so everthing had to come by plane, helicopter , or musk ox, The AN-2 is a mix of all 3. The last 4 new aircraft produced in the late 90's were sold to the Vietnamiegse Airforce for $500,000 each. In 1985 this airplane began its career hauling government workers and cargo. After 5000 accident free hours and the fall of the Soviet Union, it was mothballed until it was restored from the gound up with new engine, prop , fabric, interior and delivered to the USA in the Spring of 2002. With a fresh airworthiness certificate shes been to Airventure 2002 at Oshkosh were it took a " Judges Choice " award in the warbird division. This is a fine example of the aircraft and needs a good owner...
