    Description
This Turbo C Model was showcased in numerous articles of Piper Flyer magazine during 2001 when it was rebuilt to demonstrate the capabilities of an Aztec with the latest modifications and technologies. Thomas Block, famous author and pilot, carefully selected this Turbo Normalized C Aztec from all Aztec models due to its condition and unique selectable on/off turbo system. The turbochargers and their individual oil reservoirs are separate from the engines allowing the engines to operate normally aspirated in case of a turbocharger component failure. Piper stopped installing this selectable turbo system on the IO-540's after Lycoming produced the TIO-540's. The TIO-540's have the turbochargers incorporated within the engine which was a more cost effective solution. We believe the selectable turbo system is a more robust, redundant and safer solution. Additionally, the IO-540 engines can operate with the factory installed turbo system removed if so desired. This Aztec has 36 major modifications approved by the FAA. Perhaps the most notable performance enhancing modifications were the installation of GAMIjectors and extended range fuel tanks which allow this aircraft to cruise at 180 knots at 25 GPH for over 7 hours yielding a range with IFR reserves of over 1200 NM. During the last 6 years we have invested over $125,000 in additional improvements which include the replacement of numerous airframe components, avionics and interior upgrades in order to meet the highest standards. Always hangared. We are looking for someone who can appreciate the time and effort it has taken to build this plane. The only reason we are selling is because we purchased a King Air 350 and we can no longer fly the Aztec as many hours as it deserves. Custom Turbo Aztec C
