It combined the best parts of earlier Stinson designs with a “man-sized” four-passenger cabin seen only in aircraft of twice the price and a Lycoming R-680 engine. Months after its appearance, the Reliant was outselling all other two, four, and six-place cabin planes combined. During World War II, modified and more powerful Reliants flew with the British Royal Navy as the AT-19 while civilian ones were pressed into Army, Navy, and Royal Air Force service. After the war, Stinson SRs again became popular with American and Canadian sportsmen, businessmen, and bush pilots. This is a rare opportunity to acquire this 1933 Stinson SR aircraft restoration project that has been started though progress halted due to health. One of the first SR’s built with the straight wing as opposed to the “Gullwing” introduced c1936. This project is 90% complete with some panels/cowling required along with instruments, struts and some wing repair. Some metal patterns are included. Work completed so far includes blasting and priming of the fuselage/engine mount and refurbishment of fuselage woodwork. Some additional components such as rudder pedals have also been completed to primer. There is a brand new tail section with the project. All original electrical looms are included. The engine is an R680-17 and will need overhaul. All materials to cover the aircraft can be included by separate negotiation.
