Description
Before, during and after World War II This proven biplane design was used as a basic trainer for the Royal Air Force. After decommissioning in 1950, Tiger Moths were released for sale to the civilian market and since then, until even now, they still enjoy great popularity fitting the romantic image of a beautiful biplane.
The Morris Motor Company produced most of the machines. Norway, Sweden and Portugal created 151 under license. 2,949 Tiger Moths were produced in different countries of the Commonwealth. Canada gave the USAAF 200 machines, which were known as the PT-24. Later in New Zealand, they were used as an agricultural aircraft spraying chemicals and fertilizers.
