    Description
Superb flight characteristics. Nicest overall flying Gnat in the world, must see to appreciate. The Folland Gnat T.Mk1 is a two seat advanced trainer jet used by the British RAF and their famous “Red Arrows” aerobatic Flight Demonstration Team. A real hot rod ... 600 mph max IAS, a ceiling of 48,000 feet and capable of supersonic flight. Fuel capacity is 440 gal. The plane can easily operate from 5000ft runways without the use if its drag chute. The cockpit is a real show piece, pressurized to 4psi in a heated or air-conditioned environment, and both ejection seats are charged. Originally built in 1964, the aircraft has 4050 TT. It was totally restored, extensively modified, and updated between 1992-1994 with newer generation systems, avionics, and an electric start system having over $750,000 invested in its professional 2 year restoration. An extensive 15 year inspection was performed in 2003 at Mercury Air Center in Fort Wayne, IN costing over $50k (receipts available), and recently completed a current and extensive annual inspection. The Gnat is powered by a Rolls-Royce Orpheus 101 4520 lb thrust Turbo-Jet engine having only 490 hrs (1000+ TBO) and 2210 Cycles (7000 cycles before OH) of gentle use. This plane is sold with many spares including 30 new tires and complete set of manuals. This warbird is without a doubt the nicest overall flying Gnat in the world. Several authorized check pilots and instructor pilots available for both dual and/or instruction therefore no jet time needed and no experience needed, just a passion for high performance flight. Aircraft is registered as pre-moratorium, therefore 600 nm range limitation does not apply. This Gnat is in a league all of its own among privately owned jet warbirds, with its great looks, swept wings, amazing performance, ease of maintenance, and relative fuel economy … nothing compares.
