    Airframe Notes
The Silhouette is a single-place low wing composite sport aircraft. It's wing span is 32'. Glide ratio is 18:1. It is powered by a 42 h.p. Rotax 447 fan-cooled dual carb engine with a 2.58:1 type B reduction unit. Engine was taken out of original crate in August of 1997 and taken to Green Sky Aviation and completed up-dated. N.O.S. ignition and fuel systems were also replaced with new. Cruise speed is to be 120-125 mph. Power on stall speed 48mph, power off, 50. I bought the kit in April of 1993. I built the aircraft on and off over the next 13 years. FAA sign-off was in July of 2004. Total build time was 969 hours. It has been taxi tested and has flown over the runway on 6 occasions. Last "flown" in August of 2006. Total time on engine and airframe is less than 15 hours. Since I, like so many builders, did not do a lot of flying during the building process (especially during the latter years), I did not feel comfortable in taking the aircraft through it's paces. My orginial plan was to finish the plane within 4 years of kit purchase, fly it for a few years and transition to an ultra light. I am now retired and have acquired an ultra light and the transition has begun, albeit late. So, sadly, I am now selling my "surrogate child". I'm ready for low and slow :^)
