History This Corsair project was acquired in March 1995 and moved to Chino, California. A complete ground up restoration was completed over a five year time period. A great amount of time was taken to insure a very detailed and original restoration. The ailerons were built from blue prints, and a pre-oiler was installed for the long term operation of the plane. Original instruments and hydraulic systems overhauled. Marine's Dream's first flight occurred on 26 May 2000. Major Awards Oshkosh 2004 and 2002 Preservation Award Oskhosk 2000 Reserve Grand Champion Warbird Trophy and Golden Wrench Award Reno 2000 Smithsonian Rolls Royce Heritage Trophy and Peoples Choice Awards Sun N Fun 2000- Reserve Grand Champion The “Goodyear” nameplate for the aircraft was taken into space on the space shuttle by John Glenn.
