Description
This aircraft had originally been designed for the role of a trainer aircraft. However, the U-2 aircrafts have been used for multiple purposes ever since due to their flexibility. After a development time of about half a year the prototype took off for its first flight on 7 January in 1928. Its simple operation and maintenance as well as an enormous flight stability led to its mass production as of 1930. The manufacturing of a total number of 40,000 Po2 aircrafts has made it the most produced aircraft in the world. The number of 100,000 engines manufactured is quite impressive, too
