100+ REASONS FOR COMMERCIAL SUCCESS
A firm favourite with passengers, the A330 remains the preferred choice for over 100 airlines worldwide who continue to benefit from its proven and unrivalled low operating costs. From 30 minutes up to 15 hour flights, the A330 offers the most efficient option spanning 200-440 seats, while being one of the most reliable aircraft ever with average dispatch reliability above 99 per cent.
The A330 Family has five in-service members – the A330-200, A330-300, A330-200F, ACJ330 and A330 MRTT – along with two A330neo (new engine option) versions, which were launched in 2014. Together this versatile widebody product line covers all market segments with one twin-engine aircraft Family.
Low operating costs, high efficiency, flexibility and optimised performance make the A330 Family popular with an ever-increasing operator base, as well as passengers – who enjoy more personal space with Airbus’ modern long-haul comfort standard of 18-inch wide seats for economy class.
A330s are part of the Airbus Widebody Family.
THE RIGHT AIRCRAFT, RIGHT NOW
The world leader
Airbus has committed to continuously improving the programme since the A330’s service entry. The company spends approximately 150 million euros each year on enhancements and incremental improvements for the A330 jetliner family.
The newest evolution is Airbus’ A330neo (new engine option), which builds on the A330’s proven economics, versatility and reliability while reducing fuel consumption by a further 14 per cent per seat. Composed of two versions – the A330-800neo and A330-900neo (with the same fuselage lengths of today’s A330-200 and A330-300 current engine option jetliners, respectively) – this aircraft incorporates latest-generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines with 112-inch diameter fan for a 10:1 bypass ratio, more seats and new cabin features.
Planned for first deliveries in the fourth quarter of 2017, the A330neo will expand operators’ market opportunities with a range capability increase of around 400 nautical miles while carrying more payload. Not only does this widebody jetliner match the cash operating costs per seat of its nearest competitor, the A330neo surpasses it on direct operating costs per seat – and does so while offering greater seat-width comfort in economy class.
In addition, Airbus has enhanced the A330 product line by offering an increased takeoff weight of 242 tonnes. This upgrade first is being applied to the A330-300 – with service entry planned from mid-2015, following the successful maiden flight performed on 12 January 2015 – and subsequently to the A330-200 (in-service from early 2016), allowing operators to carry additional payload on longer missions.
Airbus has also announced a lower-weight A330-300 Regional version, which is the only widebody which beats the economics of the most efficient single-aisle aircraft. This A330-300 version will be optimised for use on domestic and regional routes in high growth markets – such as China and Asia – with concentrated traffic flows and is sized to accommodate up to approximately 400 passengers.
