Comments The autopilot pitch servo and the electric trim are inoperative. Obviously, the avionics are antique, but the aircraft has been IFR certified in the past. The Mustang is certified to operate at 24,000 feet with an 11,000 foot cabin altitude at about 185 knots, at 2300 RPM and 25 to 27 inches MP, burning 16 to 17 gallons an hour. The engine is rated to operate at 37 inches of manifold pressure continuously at a fuel burn of about 31 gallons per hour. It carries 90 gallons of usable fuel, so a reduced power setting is required to go any distance. The aircraft can be flown to anywhere in the lower 48 on a special flight authorization. It is not currently in Annual and cannot get to that point without the approval of owner manufactured (authorized) parts installed. This aircraft would be a great turbine conversion airplane. The owner had PMA’d lifters altered by moving the oil groove a very small amount to accommodate this engine and he had the engine case altered to accept a larger capacity E1C4 oil pump that is used in the Beech Duke.
