Description
This is surely the nicest Helio Courier in existence! It was updated by Helio Aircraft LLC as a pre-production prototype with a modern interior design, paint scheme and avionics panel, at a cost of over $225,000 (over and above an original acquisition cost of $200,000). It is no longer needed by Helio Aircraft LLC so it is offered for sale.
The Helio Courier STOL aircraft is legendary for its short- and rough-field capabilities. It has a minimum controllable airspeed of about 25 Kts., resulting from its leading edge slats which deploy automatically as a stall is approached, to direct massive additional airflow over the top of the wing. The robust steel-cage construction of the passenger compartment, coupled with its virtually stall- and spin-proof performance, makes this six-seater one of the safest aircraft ever built.
This aircraft was purchased from a private owner in May 2005. It was selected by Helio Aircraft LLC based on the knowledge that the previous owner had spared no expense in its restoration and maintenance. It then underwent a complete IRAN inspection and restoration at Helio Aircraft LLC in Prescott AZ, including a completely redesigned interior, exterior paint and “super-annual” inspection. Its current times are 1979 TTAFE & 260 SMOH engine & prop. There is no damage history.
The full IFR avionics suite is based on a 2-tube certified Chelton EFIS system. It has 2 Garmin SL30 Navcom radios, a Garmin GTX327 transponder, an S-Tec System 40 autopilot, a JP Instruments EDM-930 engine monitor, a PMA 8000-SR audio panel, a Garmin MD200 OBS/CDI/GS and a Davtron M77 clock. There are interfaces pre-installed in the Chelton system for W/x datalink, Stormscope and TCAD. Fully updated aircraft with modern avionics and interior.
Interior
Interior Notes
The completely redone interior features leather seating, new molded plastic parts, headliners and carpeting, plus additional soundproofing. Colors and materials were chosen for high wear resistance and relative immunity to dirt and dust, as befits a serious bush plane.
