Description
Questair Venture, Serial Number 0002, is available for purchase. This aircraft was the “production prototype” for the Venture and was used to set three world time to climb records and one national absolute altitude record.
Also available is a Venture Kit, Serial Number 0085. This kit is relatively complete less a few items scavenged to keep N27V flying. An inventory of parts would be available on request. The kit includes a McCauley propeller.
N27V first flew on January 28, 1990 and was featured in several magazine articles. On February 27, 1991 it set time to climb records to 3000, 6000 and 9000 meters. It also set a national absolute altitude record in excess of 35,000 feet (normally aspirated).
In July of 1991 the aircraft left the lower portion of the nose gear on the runway at Meigs Field during takeoff. A precautionary gear up landing was made on a grass runway in Indiana. The aircraft was ferried back to Greensboro for repairs. It was decided at this time to fabricate and install later version stronger wings. The aircraft flew again in May 1995 and has been in continuous service since that time.
Needs new paint and interior to be a show plane. Your chance to own a record breaking aircraft and a piece of amateur built aircraft history.
