Description
Always hangared, NSDH. Very fast M-20A from dry country- this is a good one with inspections available by the top rated wood experts on the Internet. Cruise at 157 Knots on less than 10 gph. 20,000' service ceiling. Bonanza speeds and climb for C-150 pricing! Only 10 lbs. less useful load and 30 fpm less climb than a C-210 from same period. Best value for the money, very reliable with no hydraulics/electrics to inspect or fail on the gear & flaps. Annuals have usually run $750 to $1200. If you can find a more economical way to fly this fast and far, you had better buy it- and let me know if they have more than one.

Optional aux tank gives 49 total gal. & 1000 mile-plus range at economy cruise of 47% & 150 mph. Upgraded with flap and aileron seals, modern 201/231 style metal tail and paint scheme. Paint and interior are average for this age and model but mechanically excellent and no problems.

Any concerns about wooden wings? When you locate a dry one that is properly maintained, wood is many times stronger than steel per pound. I'm an engineer who has worked with everything from minimum spec wood to pre-preg carbon and the highest compressive pultrusions. Properly designed & maintained wood in the right places gives greater purchasing value than metal. Faster, better climb, higher ceiling, softer ride, consistently better stall/spin characteristics. As a buyer, you MUST hangar and have the wood inspected annually in order to keep it in the dry condition it is in. Its that simple, and your A&P can learn the proper inspection steps which have averaged 1-2 hours per annual.
I will not sell this airplane to anyone who does not plan to keep it hangared.

Lycoming IO-360-A1A, the legendary "bulletproof" model of the series. 2000 TBO's but most go to 2500 when properly mainttained, rarely to even 4000. Uses less than 1 Quart between 25 hour Oil changes.

Full metal tail with modern 201/231 style fin. Completely eliminates any fishtailing in turbulence normally associated with this body style, making for a rock-solid instrument platform. This is the only M-20A I know of with the full metal tail and fin- making it a total package.
