Description
Royal Airforce Aerobatic Trainer. This Bulldog had served with the Bristol University Air Squadron. According to sources in the RAF Airforce Museum in London the badge (on vertical stabilizer, see photo) of the unit which was approved in October of 1953 by the Queen includes the following:
"On water barry wavy a galleon, its sails charged with the flower of Bristowe, those of the main and mizzen being furled."
According to the RAF badges register:
"The galleon is depicted in the arms of Bristol. The sails have been charged with the Bristowe flower which, through its name, is supposed to have been introduced into this country from the East through the Port of Bristol." '
