    A very rare opportunity to purchase a superb factory built Extra EA230 single seat high performance aerobatic classic in stunning condition, only for sale as I now require a 2 seat aerobatic type. VOCA is one of only nineteen, lovingly crafted 230’s in existence, and personally flown by Walter Extra. Walter based the EA230 design largely on the layout of the Laser Z-200 that he was flying at the time however made a number improvements to enhance the performance of the aircraft the most significant being the profile of the wings. The aircraft was so successful that Extra produced the Extra 230 as a production model until 1990, when a lack of high quality wood forced Walter to move into fully composite wing construction with the Extra 260 and then the world famous Extra 300. The fuselage is of steel tube construction and the wing is made of wood with a small amount of fiberglass on the skin of the inboard section of the wing. This gives it incredible strength, allowing the aircraft to pull or push an incredible +10G or -10G. A highly tuned Lycoming AEIO 0360-A1E producing 230 horsepower provides the powerplant. Giving it a maximum speed of 255MPH. Only three remain in the U.K. and the immensely strong wooden wing is a work of art, meaning the 230 is known as the ‘Stradivarius’ of aerobatic aircraft. This aircraft is serial number 9, previously known as G-CBUA, now G-VOCA and is a well sorted, viceless, and very well known aircraft based for many years at White Waltham, now located at EGPT, Perth in Scotland. A complete repaint was carried out in 2019 and she now carries this stunning blue and silver scheme you see today having been hangered all her life. She also comes with a huge history folder going right back to the original purchase receipt from new. One of the highest performance LAA Permit machines available today offering extremely cheap operating costs however blistering performance with a genuine 3500fpm climb rate getting you quickly to aerobatics altitude yet an easy 150-160kts cruise if you need to go places. Better than a Pitts, great airborne presence, and much much easier to land. Simple maintenance, and low operating costs enhance the overall enjoyment package.
