    Description
Offered here is a rare opportunity to own the last DC-6B built and the only remaining passenger carrying DC-6B still in service. Serial number 45564 left the Douglas manufacturing facility in Santa Monica in in November 1958 for Yugoslavia where it served as a personal transport for the then President of Yugoslavia, Field Marshall Tito, as well as other high-ranking government officials. Serial number 45564 was fully restored to its former glory in 1997 and its original Head of State - VIP configuration and she took to the sky dubbed as the "Bateleur” which translates to “Fish Eagle”. The “Bateleur” was the very last DC-6B ever built, for "only" 60 passengers in a business to first class environment, complete with an 8-seat club style arranged stateroom, 6 overhead sleeping bunks with individual lighting and ventilation controls, 3 large sized cloakrooms, reclining seats and a wardrobe. The VIP specification also means additional sound deadening. Thus, with stretch-out comfort, excellent on-board cuisine, and the ability of the pressurized aircraft to fly above turbulence, passengers can re-live the "flying in style" luxury of the 1950's. This is great opportunity for an aviation museum of vintage airline. Please contact us today for a more comprehensive description of the Bateleur’s history, and current pricing.
