    Description
Flying this iconic aircraft is exhilarating! The plane was manufactured three months after the Pearl Harbor attack. It served dutifully as a primary trainer during WWII and has been giving rides with enthusiastic owners ever since.

    Airframe

    Airframe Notes
This example of the Ryan PT-22 has never been "restored". The fabric surfaces have been covered using Stits PolyFiber and painted Nov. 2011. The fuselage is original. Both instrument panels have been restored with all instruments overhauled. The baggage compartment has the original fabric suspended from leather lacing. Below the fabric, an aluminum/graphite double compartment has been installed. Below this compartment, a shelf mounts the remote radio, Lithium battery and the ELT. Landing gear overhauled with all bearings/bushings replaced Feb. 2014. Flap actuation mechanism overhauled with all cam springs replaced in Jul 2016.

    Props

    Prop Notes
Sensenich "Spinner prop" built for the PT-22 is currently installed.

    Avionics

    Avionics/Radios
This aircraft has no "engine-driven electrical generating system". In this configuration, it is "grandfathered" and may be flown into airspace that normally requires a transponder and ADSB. I usually call ahead to coordinate with ATC before flying into busy airspace. PS Engineering Intercom installed in rear cockpit with Mic and headset jacks in both cockpits. Both Control Sticks have been modified to accept WWII Fighter Stick Grips. Triggers are wired for Transmit on the radio and the Bomb Release is wired for intercom push-to-talk option. Kannad 406 ELT installed Jul 2017. Avionics rack installed below the baggage compartment to support the remote radio, battery and the ELT.

    Exterior

    Exterior Notes
    Fuselage has been recently polished.
    Year Painted
    2011

    Interior

    Interior Notes
Custom seat cushions fabricated from memory foam in both cockpits. Shoulder harnesses and lap belts replaced in 2014.

    Inspection Status
