    Description
Grumman GA7 Cougar (1978) Serial number 074 For sale is my fantastic GA7 cougar which I have owned since 2019 having spent a significant amount bringing her up to an excellent mechanical standard. The GA7 is one of the lowest cost Light Twins to own and operate giving you the safety of 2 engines and dual redundancy in systems however a fuel burn similar to a large singe. A Cougar also makes an extremely cost effective platform for flying schools looking to offer MEP training. The GA7 is a delight to fly, extremely responsive, fantastic short field performance but most importantly extremely safe with the large vertical stabilisor resulting in a Vmca below stall speed meaning none of the loss of control issues associated with so many light twin accidents. The GA7 was built using a honeycomb airframe structure making it extremely strong yet light compared to comparable twins allowing for the use of smaller and more efficient to operate 160hp Lycoming 0-320 engines. These are extremely cheap to maintain when compared to IO540's etc found in many large singles or indeed turbocharged engines found in Seneca's etc but due to the light weight of airframe still provide sufficient single engine performance. Example speeds and fuel burn figs as follows: 155kts TAS - 19 USG per hr 143kts TAS - 16 USG per hr 130kts TAS - 14 USG per hr 118kts TAS - 12 USG per hr TC has full airways fit including 2 x Garmins 430's driving a Sanedell SN3308 EHSI coupled to 3 axis autopilot so capable of flying GPS routes or indeed a coupled ILS. There is also a strikefinder installed to help avoid the worst of the weather when flying IFR. TC has just completed an extensive annual in April with a full prop overhaul, all 4 mags overhauled, all new engines hoses and a all corrosion treated and professionally painted including gear legs. That’s all the big jobs done now for several years so should present few surprises for a new owner. Times as follows but will be rising slowly as in regular use: Approx. 5195hrs TT Left Engine 1060hrs TT Right Engine 1570hrs TT Left Prop overhauled Nov 2019 130hrs Right Prop overhauled Mar 2022 Circa 15hrs Fresh ARC Aug 2022 Engines on condition due to calendar time however under Part M Lite can be used for flight training at the discretion of your CAMO. A full set of outdoor covers were purchased new at the beginning of 2020 at great expense including cabin cover, thermal engine covers and intake blanks however the aircraft has been hangered since early 2020 so covers have had very little use. TC also comes with an extensive amount of airframe spares having purchased another GA7 which had a wheels up landing a couple of years ago and should keep GOTC flying for many years to come. TC is a very reluctant sale having been purchased with the intent of business trips and family holidays however the arrival of COVID in 2020 resulted in few opportunities for such. We have since bought a boat and the family now much prefer spending weekends on the water rather than flying. The majority of my clients have also moved to teams meetings rather than face to face so business trips are now also greatly reduced meaning TC is in effect now surplus to requirements and will be sorely missed. TC is hangered at EGPT, Perth in Scotland and available for viewing by arrangement. Happy to answer any questions by phone 07393 280310 or email. Priced at GBP 79,500 ono to include all spares and outdoor covers which presents fantastic value for money given the comfort and safety a light twin brings to long distance touring!
