AS IS, WHERE IS
C130A There are a lot of great decisions made over the years that now warrant serious review. Aviation claims more than its fair share of these. Some decades back, we made a "positively brilliant" trade with the US Air Force Museum for this very airplane. Swapping a P51, an A26, and a Mosquito bomber; for a ridiculously low time reconnaissance/photo mapping C130A with no damage history...seemed like a great idea at the time. Especially since the demand for such retired heavy lifters for aerial firefighting was growing. A big plus was that this lady had never seen combat or carried cargo. All four T56 engines and props were even newer than her air frame. What could have possibly gone wrong?
Well, anyone with an internet connection already knows. The tragic loss of some very fine airmen in a poorly maintained and overstressed 130, pretty much made the firefighting market for our type a totally uninsurable enterprise. Remember what I said about great decisions? The years passed. We got older, maybe wiser, and today have the planet's lowest time complete A series looking for a good CIVILIAN home. To fly again, she'll need to be unwrapped from storage. Props (stored separately indoors) will need to be rehung. Tires, hoses, fluids, and the like; will need an update. Still, nothing beyond the realm of routine inspections and renewals separates you from flying this ultimate heavy lift STOL. She is a rare bird with a wonderful history. () Her future has yet to be written.
That will be up to you.
The attachments cover most of her vitals. Your questions will undoubtedly cover the rest.
Serious inquires only...please.
