Description
N5834K is a true gem with a unique history, ready for an enthusiastic new owner looking for a project plane. This 1965 Beechcraft S35 has a story of meticulous care, from its dedicated owners until it was retired to a hangar in 2002. For over 22 years, this plane has rested in pristine condition, preserving the quality and attention it had received by it’s professional pilot/A&P owner. This is a rare quality of "barn find" that every restoration enthusiast dreams of discovering.
Since its recent revival, this aircraft has continued to impress with one positive discovery after another. Key highlights from the maintenance shop’s examination include:
Exterior: The original paint still shines, with rivets, wing walk, handles, and tires all in great shape—a clear indication of the care that’s been put into preserving it.
Interior: The interior is equally impressive, with seats retaining their integrity—no sinking or sagging cushions, a rare find in a plane of this age! The original upholstery, with its 60s design and color scheme, remaining clean, odor-free, and with very minimal signs of wear.
Engine and Fuel System: Engine borescope inspections revealed the camshaft, lifters, and cylinders are all, surprisingly, in excellent condition. Fuel tanks were tested with 30 gallons added, and the bladders held fuel as required.
Propeller and Alternator: Propeller inspection, along with a borescope of the crankshaft, showed everything in excellent shape. The alternator and magneto also showed no concerning signs of wear or deterioration.
Battery and Nose Strut: The nose strut has been resealed, serviced, and refilled with nitrogen, and a new battery was installed with successful operational tests.
Avionics: The avionics remain untouched, offering the potential for a modern upgrade if desired. An engine run is scheduled to evaluate the current instrumentation's functionality.
While there are signs of corrosion on the flight surfaces, the overall condition of this Beechcraft S35 is remarkable. N5834K offers an exceptional foundation for restoration or modernization. Its character, history, and exceptional preservation make it a fantastic opportunity to own a well-cared-for classic.
