    [*Sample Exterior photos] Finding a low time MD500E is rather difficult considering most of the aircraft flying are more than 30 years old. What really matters today is what history of operation you are buying which means if you are looking at anything out of New Zealand - theres a better than good chance it has had the guts pulled out of it doing repetitive agricultural work or worse... chasing deer. This MD500E was born in 1989 and if you pay attention, you will see no cargo hook or other utility equipment associated to utility work. The 12,000 hours on this airframe has been easy surveillance work with low demand on the aircraft and never more than the max internal weight. The original "surf board" still fitted to the upper cowl testifys strongly to the originality and unmolested history. This isn't a low time machine but if you average out the flying TTSN it is only 330 hours a year and that suggests this aircraft has been maintained regularly in its current commercial roles. The trained eye notices that the blades show no sag and the static pitch angles look linear. It sits tall on its gear, the windows could've been installed yesterday, there is a visible lack of oil canning in the airframe and (I think) the paint is in good condition. They aren't making the MD500's in any volume these days and if you are looking for a helicopter that keeps your head up and attention outside more than looking at magenta lines and managing the autopilot... then take this opportunity because they won't be around forever.
