    Engine Notes
The engine began life as a Lycoming IO-360, but it was completely reconstructed as an experimental engine from Performance Aircraft, the same folks who precision make engines for the US Aerobatic Team, and for a number of racers competing in Reno. The compression was upped to 10:1 and the Horsepower was bumped up from 200 to 210. Since then, it has been modified by ProTek Performance for an EFII Electronic Fuel Injection and Ignition system. Magnetos were removed and timing was achieved electronically using Electronic Control Units. The ECUs feature a comprehensive map with values corresponding to a range of fuel values, manifold pressures, RPM's and other variables, such as timing, spark advances and retard values, temperatures, starting values, and cruise settings. The results is a trouble free system delivering 13.5:1 air/fuel mixtures for the entire flight envelope. EFII was recently factory re-programmed to perfection. Extensive modifications were made to the electrical system to provide duality for alternators, batteries, sensors, ECU's, fuel pumps and wiring. The dual system is uncommonly robust.

    Modifications/Conversions

    Modifications/Conversions
The Van’s nose gear fork Service Bulletin was complied with by precautionary replacement. Batteries are wired with individual trickle charger plug receptacles and a standard GPU plug permits extended ground-power for testing/training/familiarization periods. Installation includes a flashing LED monitoring light to verify connectivity. Wheel pants have access covers, so no need to remove wheel pants to check tire pressure. Wing-tip panels allow storage for light tie-down, cleaning or camping items.

    Avionics/Radios
GNS-430WAAS, GTX-330ES, GDL-39 (ADS-B compliant per 2020 mandate), KLX-135, KA-134, GRT EIS-4000, GRT EFIS with Synthetic Vision, SDS LCD Programmer, PLX Air/fuel Monitor, backup EFIS Dynon EFIS D-69. Autopilot is a TruTrak DigiFlight II with VZN-385 upgrade with altitude capture & hold, features a “Straight and Level” emergency button in case of vertigo. High Vis Wig-Wag wing lights, Strobes, Beacon, switchable parallel dual battery's, dual EFII Engine Management computers, dual charging systems and dual electric fuel pumps, all of which are inflight monitored and switchable, also has two separate battery status testers. Avionics includes intercom and a 406 MHz ELT. Recent Pitot/Static/Transponder check and fresh condition inspection (Annual).
