    Description
**Email Preferred - Contact For Price** Do you want a run-of-the-mill airplane, or do you want something extraordinary, something that sets you apart? Do you want a chunk of silver, or do you prefer an antique and priceless coin? For many of us, the answer is, we want something different, something unusual, something outstanding. Well, this plane is the fastest, cheapest IFR cross country plane you'll find anywhere, and that's because it's one of a handful of Mooney airplanes referred to as "the best airplanes we ever built at the factory". It takes a special kind of person to appreciate the rare value this airplane represents. So it may not be for you. But the incredible workmanship that went into the first Mooney wood wing airplanes allows them to fly faster, smoother in turbulence, and with more docile stall characteristics, predictably, as long as you treat them well. Whether this is your first retract, your first IFR plane, or just something to go high and fast, what else can you fly on autopilot, IFR, at 141kts on 7.9gph at 10,500MSL for so little money? Airframe

    Total Time
    4350.0
    Airframe Notes
Wood wing, Metal tail, Johnson Bar Retractable Gear, Guppy mouth closure, gap seals, non-leaking sealed tanks, aux tank, LED landing light, 5-8kts faster than most C models. Fly IFR at 141kts on 7.9gph at 10,500MSL

    Engine

    Engine Time
    1034
    Engine Notes
Lycoming O360-A1A overhauled by Zephyr using all ECI Titan components to replace everything except the dataplate. Nickel+Carbide cylinders. High tech ADC oil filter with metal chip, bypass, and lo pressure warning lights on panel. Sealed Concorde RG battery. Kelly e-Drive fast starter. Compressions 76, 76, 70, 75 at annual Aug 2018.

    Props

    Prop Notes
0 hrs since $1000 Inspect & Reseal, refinish blades, balance, eddy current inspection. HC-C2YK-1A requires the eddy current inspection every 100 hours which takes maybe an hour and less than $200. Prop was installed 10/28/1977 at Tach Time 2340, and I do not have logs prior to that. Hub AW-482. Blades B-7131 and B-28946. The prop is painted red to stand out :)

    Avionics

    Avionics/Radios
Garmin GX-60 IFR approach certified GPS with a unique com radio that allows simultaneous monitoring of the Stby frequency. KY96A Com 2. VAL INS-422 Nav radio with built-in CDI/GS display for shooting LOC or ILS approaches. Brittain Accu-Flite heading hold autopilot. This is NOT the horrible old PC button everybody puts rubber bands on to defeat. This has a bug on the DG you set for the course you want to fly, and it takes you there. Handles any turbulence without disconnecting. KT76A transponder. Hypervox 4-place intercom. EI SR-8A 4-cylinder CHT/EGT scanner with peak detector and alarms. FP-5L fuel computer with alarms allowing easy management of the 3 fuel tanks. VA-1A Volt-ammeter. AV-17 voice annunciator alerts any problems with engine temps, fuel pressure or level, or bus voltage. ACK E-04 406MHz ELT. I have preordered a uAvionix TailBeacon and will include that in the purchase so you have ADS-B right away!

    Exterior

    Year Painted
    1981
    Exterior Notes
White and light grey with red stripes. There are a few scrapes that were repaired but not yet repainted. N number looks good from 20 ft but should probably be redone by a professional. What you notice first is that the wings have no rivets. Super smooth and super fast. Seems like it must surely have been repainted after 1981 but if so there is no record of that.

    Interior

    Year Interior
    1960
    Number of Seats
    4
    Interior Notes
As far as the logs show, this is the original interior. Light grey cloth and vinyl. Super comfortable seats. Mismatched carpet color could stand to be replaced. Pilot's side headrest is currently being recovered in leather with the Mooney logo, so is missing in some of the photos. Seats look in too good a shape for this to be original 1960, but I can't tell.

    Inspection Status

    Inspection Status
August 2018 annual just completed. IFR altimeter, transponder, encoder tests completed August 2018.
