Most of the order built in 1953-4 went to Germany, Italy and Japan. This T-6 was assigned USAF Sn 28608 but went to the German AF as BF 064. Sometime in the mid-1960’s, the Luftwaffe sold the aircraft to the Portuguese AF, who shipped it to Portuguese East Africa now Mozambique. The Portuguese were driven out of the country in 1972, which was followed by a 20-year war. Our T-6 was left abandoned on the military airfield in Beira, where it and 4 others were found and brought to South Africa in 1992. This aircraft was 100% rebuild during the period from 1993-1998 some in South Africa with most of the work completed by Walt Lannon in Oliver BC. One wheel pant has the Iron Cross and German serial number and the other has the Portuguese Cross and serial number. We are very fortunate to have both the German and Portuguese logs for this aircraft to prove its interesting history, very few of the USAF T-6/CCF MK-4 aircraft have made it back to North America. Aircraft located in British Columbia, Canada. Contact Courtesy Aircraft to schedule a showing!
