Description
1972/1984 Cessna O&N Silver Eagle 340 Turbine,
Certification was completed on 23 July 2012..............
This aircraft in the photos is the proto type which we consider ship #1, we have delivered ship #2 and is based in South Dakota, ship #3 is a couple of weeks out form deliver and expecting to be delivered by the end of January. #3 will be based in the Salt Lake Utah Area. Ship #1 has been located at PropJet Aviation since the AOPA showing for testing and data collection regarding performance specifications. One of the tests that I was most interested in, was single engine performance...At gross weight, the day was standard and the field elevation at Santa Rosa in 125 ft. At 2000ft above SL we shut down the starboard engine (right hand side), we were at gross weight (6300 lbs), an were able to climb to 17,500ft with speed and rate to spare, in fact our initial climb rate was 900fpm at 130 knots indicated to 10,000ft...from 10,000ft to 14,500ft our climb was 120 knots indicated at 500fpm....on the climb to 17,500 the last 2000ft of the climb as an honest 350 fpm @ 110 IAS...leveling off at 17,500 our indicated air speed on one engine was 137 knots at 176 TAS....yes the plane could have / would have continued the climb but we decided to climb to FL210 on two engines, once there we again shut down the right engine and was able to maintain level flight with a 7 degree up attitude (normal cruise with two engines is 2 degree) with 106 IAS and a 146TAS....very impressive, needless to say there isn't a piston 340 out there that can perform like this (but who would even expect one too...). The best true airspeed with two engine is a constant 235 knots true burning a total for both engines(combined GPH) 44 gallons....there are not many single engine turbines / pressurized certified aircraft... that cruise at this speed can get that burn on one engine... on other tests the SE 340 will climb at gross weight at 160 knots indicated at 2200 fpm up to 12,000ft, then the rate stays at between 800 to 900 fpm up to 17,500....Landing this plane is just fun....with reverse propeller action, the plane can stop in 300ft....take off is 600ft with a rotation at 80 knots indicated....Also on decents from altitude anything from 5000 fpm to what ever you would like, no effect on engines, airframe or propellers....actually I have seen 8,000 fpm and not exceed 180 knots indicated.....
