Douglas DC-3/C-47 Collection For Sale - $135,000 C-47B-5-DK, s/n. 14511 – N51938 Year of Manufacture 1944 Time Since New 21,259.0 Last Flight 08/14/1982 Originally delivered to the US Navy and served as an executive transport in all of the following NAS: • Olathe, Kansas • Jacksonville, Florida • Rio de Janeiro, Brazil • Cherry Point, North Carolina • San Juan, Puerto Rico When this aircraft left government service in 1959 it was bought by Wien Alaska Airlines who flipped the aircraft to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for use as an Approach Procedures Calibration aircraft. The aircraft was purchased for Cargo Operations by Baron Aviation Services, Vichy, Missouri in 1980. It never was converted to cargo and retains it executive door with air-stair. C-47-DL, s/n. 9053 – N47FJ Year of Manufacture 1943 Time Since New 22,322.75 Last Flight 12/13/1990 The US Army Air Corps based this aircraft in Algeria, at Ahmed Ben Bella Airport (now) Oran before (DAOO.) The 12th Air Force operated there for the North African Campaign. Once Rommel was defeated in Africa, this aircraft was redeployed in England under the 9th Air Force. This aircraft flew sorties in support of the D-Day Landings. Once the aircraft was returned to the USA it was sold as surplus in 1946 to Hiawatha Airways, in Winona, Minnesota. After which it flew as corporate aircraft for all of the following corporations: • Texaco Company, New York, New York • Champion Spark Plug, Toledo, Ohio • Trans Air, Winnipeg, Manitoba • Falcon Owning Co, Teterboro, New Jersey (Falcon Jet) The aircraft was purchased for Cargo Operations by Baron Aviation Services, Vichy, Missouri in 1977. DC-3-455, s/n. 6325 – N486C Year of Manufacture 1942 Time Since New 48,962.0 This aircraft was built for American Airlines but was commandeered by the Air Transport Command and sent to Morrison Field, West Palm Beach, Florida, for use in the Caribbean Wing during WWII. After the war Eastern Airlines purchased the aircraft. Between 1946 through 1954 the aircraft flew for Eastern, Frontier, Sothern, Zantop, and Capital Airways. In 1955 Remmert-Warner in St. Louis bought this aircraft and converted it into a corporate/executive aircraft. Union Camp Paper Company in Virginia. In 1973 the aircraft was purchased for Cargo Operations by Baron Aviation Services, Vichy, Missouri.
